Here in the Philippines, it’s always to easy to find a plumber, just look for an electric post and you’ll see a sign there posted saying ‘Ramon – Tubero‘ followed by his contact number. But that is not really a guarantee of a quality plumber, it’s always best to ask for a referral from your friends.

But in the US, they don’t post on posts like that. I guess they professionalize plumbing, that they even have a website. Just like in Atlanta, one Atlanta Plumber I’ve seen with a website is the A & K Atlanta.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo attended the Middle East Conference this Sunday, a conference that proved to be fruitful as she was assured of 200,000 jobs by Middle East employers for the rest of 2009.

BIR expands coverage of its electronic filing and payment system (eFPS)

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) issued a new taxpayer rule that aims to expand the coverage of its electronic filing and payment system or eFPS.

eFPS, which was launched by BIR in 2001 to simplify filing and payment of taxes as well as improve taxpayers’ compliance, used to require only large taxpayers to use the system, or those with net worths of at least P300 million, insurance companies, and banks.

Business as usual

Finally! After days of anxieties and sleepless nights, I was able to get my business blog right on track.

That’s the trouble with too much technology sometimes – one wrong mouse click, and there goes your blog to ‘kingdom come!’

Although the blog is still running with a ‘Break-in‘ sign attached to its bumper as it seems not to be running smoothly yet… because I really don’t understand how I got it back or if there’s anything else I should do.

That new short stories blog is really causing me lots of frustrations… more than I expected in setting up a new blog.

But nonetheless, what’s important for now is I got my blog back, and like I said… it’s business as usual.

Holiday pay guidelines

The whole country will observe Holy Week next week. It is a week that only have two working days, which prompts the labor department to remind employers of the holiday pay guidelines.

As stated in the Proclamation 1699, declaring the list of official holidays in the Philippines, Araw ng Kagitingan (April 9) was moved to April 6, the Monday nearest to it.

April 9 and 10, meanwhile, are Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, which leave only April 7 and 8 as the official working day for the day.
