I have just received an invitation from Ka-Entrep about their forthcoming Pinoy-Negosyo 2010. I remember when I was still a newbie entrepreneur, trade show exhibits are events that I was always looking for. Trade fairs are a great way to break into the business scene. It gives you a feel of the market and you can get immediate feedback from trade fair visitors.

Laundry seminar for the benefits of typhoon victims

Now, here’s a great way for you start a new business and at the same help our countrymen who were affected by the recent typhoons that hit the Philippines.

Mr. Laundry Shoppe’s Laundry seminar schedule for November will be held this November 21, 2009 and this will be for the benefit of the typhoon victims.

Like the previous seminars, it will be held on-site at the Mr. Laundry Shoppe’s location at the 12 Mayor Ignacio Santos Diaz  St. (former Banahaw St.), Cubao, Quezon City.

This seminar is regularly conducted by my entrepreneur friend Nette to help those who want to start their own business.

Don’t shoot down ideas

Ideas abound, sometimes even from the most unlikely source in the corporation. That is why some foreign companies are even holding ideas blitz on a regular basis, if not annually. So they can encourage their employees to voice out their two-cent worth of ideas. And surprisingly, from this blitz of ideas out comes a jewel that can help the organization increased their earnings from great innovations, or even help them save from their expenses.

Sadly though, this is not always the case on our local organizations. With Filipinos who are known to be sensitive people, any new idea is often treated as a rejection of their current tried and tested system. Believe me, I have personally experienced this.

Joey has a problem. He wants to be a programmer. Joey’s big problem is that, while he wants success, he does things to make sure he will never have the success he dreams of. Joey constantly prioritizes trivial accomplishments that have immediate results ahead of potentially much greater accomplishments that have no immediate result.

Go Negosyo Youth Entrepreneurship Summit

I received from my email this morning about an event organized by the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship that would help spark the entrepreneurial mindset among the youth.

It’s the Go Negosyo Youth Entrepreneurship Summit, a one-day event jam-packed with inspiring forum, mentoring sessions, and seminars bound to inspire everyone to start their dream business.

There are over 100 exhibitors who will be showcasing the latest business opportunities in food, fun, fashion and facilities.

It will be on September 11, 2009 at 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, at the SMX Convention Center Mall Asia.

Are you in business or just self-employed?

What could be the difference between the two?

A lot!

I myself could not believe it until it was proven by our facilitator during our Ka-Entrep sessions in 2007 at CSE. Our seminar facilitator asked us one by one, and all the while we thought we were in business, but as it turned out most were just self-employed, we really don’t have a business but just a job at home.

So what is your business?” The facilitator asked, “I do homemade salad dressings, the feedback I’m getting are good. In fact, I get lots of orders. I can say business is really good” replied the participant.

You make the salad dressings yourself?” the facilitator continued. “Yes, ma’m!” was the the quick reply “it’s my own formula, my secret recipe.”

“So I take it that you won’t entrust your secret formula to anybody else, so only you must work to do your salad dressings, right?
