RA 9593, The National Tourism Policy Act of 2009

The Republic Act 9593, also known as the National Tourism Policy Act 2009, was signed into law by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 during the culmination of the two-day One Visayas Summit on Climate Change inside the Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort Hotel and Spa in Cebu.
RA 9593 is an act declaring a national policy for tourism as an engine of investment, employment, growth and national development. The law will give a boost the country’s tourism industry, strengthening the Department of Tourism (DOT) and its attached agencies to effectively and efficiently implement tourism policies.

BIR expands coverage of its electronic filing and payment system (eFPS)

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) issued a new taxpayer rule that aims to expand the coverage of its electronic filing and payment system or eFPS.
eFPS, which was launched by BIR in 2001 to simplify filing and payment of taxes as well as improve taxpayers’ compliance, used to require only large taxpayers to use the system, or those with net worths of at least P300 million, insurance companies, and banks.

Holiday pay guidelines

The whole country will observe Holy Week next week. It is a week that only have two working days, which prompts the labor department to remind employers of the holiday pay guidelines.
As stated in the Proclamation 1699, declaring the list of official holidays in the Philippines, Araw ng Kagitingan (April 9) was moved to April 6, the Monday nearest to it.
April 9 and 10, meanwhile, are Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, which leave only April 7 and 8 as the official working day for the day.

Wikipedia defines contract as “an exchange of promises between two or more parties to do, or refrain from doing, an act which is enforceable in a court of law. It is a binding legal agreement.”
